James Paterson is a Deputy Fire Marshal for Protective Services and has competed in the Scott Firefighter Combat Canadian and World Challenges. James is a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise.
After about a month of trudging along on my own, my friend Alison introduced me to James. Meeting him was a major turning point for me. I was terrified to go to that first session at the dreaded black street stairs. My legs were shaking before I had climbed even one of them. I had heard things about James. That he was tough, intense, crazy. I’m not sure how Alison got me to that first session but I will be eternally grateful to her for it.
Through working with James I have learned that he is all of the things I had heard about him, but now I know that he is also kind, encouraging and motivating. If you give him your one hundred percent he will give back one thousand percent. He pushes me to go farther and faster and harder than I think I can go. Together we have made progress that I would not have achieved on my own. In my blog I have called him a vampire, Satan’s minion, and some other less than flattering names, but above all I am proud to call him my friend and my Jedi.
